Introducing New Features
in Familiar Spaces with Google Chat
We teamed up with the Google Workspace team to create a spot announcing exciting new Chat features ahead of Google Next 23’.
We utilized dynamic text, leaned into the playful, bouncy language of the Material You design system, and paired it with Google’s sleek new UI to create an anthem video for the ages.
This was my first project as the Associate Motion Director at Hook.

The Process

At Hook, collaboration is our secret sauce. On this project, the creative, design, and motion teams all worked together to brainstorm and mock up ideas, with folks at all levels contributing. No egos here—just a shared goal of creating the best work possible.
For this campaign, that collaborative approach was key. While waiting for design feedback, our motion team started experimenting; balancing playful shapes and colors with sleek UI moments in our motion tests. That gave us early internal and client buy-in to continue animating the piece even as design & copy flucutated.
Through these early tests, we learned a lot about how we wanted (and didn’t want) to approach the animation of this video, even if some animations didn’t make the final cut.
